God bless MY mommy!

Post Options

Last night we celebrated ,my moms 55th birthday! I can't believe she looks so incredible. She has been the best mom for me and my sisters~ In so many ways. She is WISDOM! One of the best qualities that makes her an all star mother, is  that her opinion is usually not bias and it is ALWAYS filtered through a spiritual perspective. She has the ability to look at any senario and give advice on whats best in the WHOLE situation without factoring in her feelings. I don't know how thats possible~seems as a mother you would be bias to your own childs need nontheless your own! Mom, I cant say I couldn't live without you, but it would be so hard  to live without you! I am sooooo glad you were born yesterday 55 years ago!
GOD BLESS YOU ALWAYS!
Only God himself fully appreciates the influence of a Christian mother in the molding of character in her children --Billy Graham

Awesome beach day....terrible beach goers.

Wow and i mean WOW! Now is the time to take yourself and your spouse or kids or friends to the beach...namely Tunnel Park. It was incredible. The water was clear, calm refreshing (yes it warmed up) and there were only about 3 other families! The sun was shinning and it was 75 degrees.
UNFORTUNETLY ethan decided to throw an hour tantrum because he wanted to go back and play on the slides instead of the beach. I was out of options to make him stop crying. It was one of those nasty tantrums that go on and on and on and time outs, a spank on the bum or 3, and  bribing all have ZERO effect on him whatsoever. He was going to cry and scream until he got his way..i dont care if you threw pounds of candy and ice-cream at him...he wasn't going to stop.
If you've never experienced this, its not because your such an "awesome super mom"...its because you have a kid that hasn't thrown a tantrum (truly) yet. Hopefully this never happens to you especially in public. I am a great mom, I just happen to have a child that at times can be very STUBBORN!!! Having a 3 year old is so so so humbling. I can never judge another mother in a certain single instance with a kid that is throwing a tantrum....it can happen to the best of moms. So if it happens to you, hold on tight and after a while you'll end up carrying 2 fat HEAVY kids full of sand, screaming to BOTH be held UP the sand dunes, up the stairs, through the tunnel PASSED the swings (hint hint...this kids not getting a reward for this by enjoying some jungle gym time)and you may even find yourself LAUGHING at the top of your lungs while onlookers tip there heads......THIS IS  WHAT HAPPENED TO ME! i was actually laughing at the top of my lungs (my head was even tipped back) while my two babies screamed all the way back...one in each arm.

GROWING? (insert frown) GROWING! (insert smiles)

Three school began today. This is a sad yet happy moment for a mother. Much more happy for me I mean Ethan is still ONLY 3! Its not totally official until he's 5 and is REQUIRED To be in school that he's a big big boy. I can still hang on to the idea of him being my baby. School was  blast for me! It was also a blast for Ethan! All these years of discipline have really paid off! He listened very well on the listening rug, folded his hands and closed his eyes during prayer, and followed all the instructions without whining. Might I add that instead of high fives  he was giving out charming hugs to the teacher and her helper. They really enjoyed Ethan. My hope is that this will be the tone for the rest of the school year. Off to a great start. Its going to be a very posative thing (we think)
I hope to be better at blogging now that my wee one is in school. Henry stayed abck with my mom (maga). Ethan will also be continuing his speech through the state of Michigan's public schools. He goes every Monday with papa after his school. This kid will be articulating full paragraphs of stories for you all very very soon. he has actually come along way this summer with no extra outside help. Ta-ta for now! I also new his teacher jamie Lanser (Ebels) form church growing up...always a nice touch to it all!

What a Great Day today is! So much to be thankful for. We've been very busy in the kitchen and I realized, I may as well just keep on my apron ALL day. I love to be in this thing, and I love to be domestic THE VERY, VERY MOST!  I want to share with you our pancake recipe. Its really Jeremy;s recipe. Typically when people eat these, they mention how good they are. Here it is...you will have the ingredients on hand, so don't even bother buying bisquick~its almost eiser this way! Also, i read recently that the pre-made pancake mixes can go bad after their expiration date and be toxic to humans.

Buttermilk pancakes (you can also use milk)

full batch:
DRY
1 1/4 cup flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
2 Tbs sugar
3/4 tsp salt
a dash of cinnamon

*add wet to mixed dry

WET
1 1/4 cup milk or buttermilk
2 eggs
3 Tbs. oil

***************************************

1/2 batch (makes 8 medium size pancakes)

DRY
1/2 cup + 2 Tbs flour
1 1/4 tsp baking powder
1 Tbs sugar
1/4 tsp salt
dash of cinnamon

WET
1/2 cup + 2 Tbs Milk (or buttermilk)
1 egg
1 1/2 Tbs oil

*butter pan and let heat to med-high. Flip Pancakes when the top is bubbly.

*using milk instead of buttermilk will stretch your batter to serve more.

*If you want to add blueberries, simply pour batter out to make a pancake and drop in blueberries after 30 seconds and flip when ready. ....sooooooooo good.

our future plans, and please say a prayer for my husband Jeremy tomorrow!!!!

It's almost May, and were very desperate for warmer Spring weather! Having 2 boys 21mos apart can be wearing indoors. Is it me or has this winter seemed longer than most? Jeremy is having surgery tomorrow on his nose...they are going to straighten out his deviated Septum. It is pretty routine surgery but he has to go all the way "under." Please keep him in your prayers. The good side is we get to have him around for a whole week post surgery, despite the extra care he'll need i can actually talk to someone thats older than 2!

Wednesday 4 February 2009

We've been staying very, very busy around here, and i am thankful because this weather is treterous. Henry got a new walker, its the best, because it has traction and you really have to push it to make it go, so if you have wood floors I highly sugggest this, it won't slide across the room too fast. I think this will also come in handy for the boys to grow into as it is kind of like a little grocery cart as well! A toy we will have for a long time!

Friday 2 January 2009

Jeremy found these cool cars for the boys that you can disassemble and build. They are also environmentally friendly! Jeremy Loves them.

Throwing Ethan up in the air!

Henry's first try at my spaghetti.

Zoo Lights.

Lincoln Park Zoo puts on an amazing display of Christmas lights. We decided to join our neighbor friends and check them out. It turned out to be colder than we had expected, so we had to cut the night short. We did however manage to get Ethan on the little train...man was he in LOVE. This kid is already slightly obsessed with Thomas, and it made us smile watching him enjoy the ride.

In between Holidays...

Well, Christmas is through and we have a lot of cool new toys. I am excited to report that we will be spending New Years Eve with 2 kids fast asleep in their now "shared room" and Jer and I will enjoy micro brewed beer, Sushi, watching a movie and the ball drop from the comforts of our bed and our new flat screen TV. I don't know how to fit all of that in a sentence. We have much to look forward to in 2009.  loving others and quite honestly (Jeremy and I) will be our theme for 2009. We look forward to serving others, in order to grow ourselves. We also want to simplify things. A lot less TV (reality mainly) and a lot more communicating and reading. Its amazing how little time is left for spouse communication when your rearing 2 boys under the age of 3.
We would love to think about getting more healthy and working out, but relationships with ourselves and others are the first on our list! Hope you all start the new year off with much enthusiasm.
